Those Who Save Us - Likewise Book Reviews
"Some have marked this book as sexually explicit and while I won't deny that it has graphic scenes, I would say that it is traumatically explicit in ways that can only be explained through human sexuality in this era. If you know WWII historical German culture (pre-war, in war & post-war) this book rings true. It is not a sweet novel to fill time but rather a rude awakening to the truth of the lives of those included in this time period, from the Jew to the village Baker, the high-brow German to the SS Officer whose rank carries with it certain expectations. Well worth the read, I couldn't put it down (hence the quick speed!)"

"Interesting WWII read from the perspective of the German citizen. "

"Not really a Resistance story, although that's how it starts, and not just a story about the atrocities against Jews and others, but also a book about German civilians and their lives during the Nazi regime. Told from the perspectives of Anna and her daughter Trudie, their WWII experiences and their later lives in 1990's Minnesota."

"Captivating! I couldn't put the book down! From the beginning to the end Blum creatively gives the reader the perspective of a German woman during the holocaust. If you love historical fiction then this is a book for you."
