Road Master This article was a bit misleading. It said no projects are in the works or greenlit. But it also specifies, original theatrical releases AND franchises. Sounds like they have specific plans. My only guess is they're taking another crack at the monsterverse stuff.

Russ Hoyt @road_master that is a good guess in my opinion.

Ryan It looks like Universal have the rights back and they are having Blumhouse reboot the Universal Monsters, which feels a little small for Cruise. I’m sure he’s powerful enough to take it over, if he wants to, though. https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie-news/wolfman-ryan-gosling-drops-out-christopher-abbott-1235746506/amp/

Road Master I guess we shouldn't call it the monsterverse. But I don't know what else to call it.

Russ Hoyt @road_master maybe we could call it the CreatureVerse?

Road Master Makes sense to me.

Ryan It’s non-exclusive, so he can still make MI and Top Gun movies for Paramount. I think this has more to do with greasing the skids for the rumored WBD/Paramount merger than any specific project they have mind. They want to have Cruise already under contract if the merger happens bc his properties are some of Paramount’s biggest assets. Just my conjecture though.

Russ Hoyt @ryan_3430 interesting line of thinking.

Ryan I am really interested in what the next phase of Cruise’s career looks like. He’s been playing these ultra-focused loner heroes almost exclusively for the last two decades. He’s a strange guy and he has been famous so long, can he still play a more nuanced character who has normal human interactions? Is he even interested in doing that or does he just want to play unstoppable action star Tom Cruise until he retires (or burns up in atmosphere, as he keeps trying to outdo himself doing crazy live action stunts)?

Road Master I've been wondering this for several years. The man is 61 years old. He's GOT to be runnin outta steam.
