Rob PaulEnjoyable spy thriller. Propped up by a fantastic cast but let down with a less than stellar finish. But kept me engaged and interested. Solid B.
Rob PaulOnly for the hard core fantasy geeks who like a lot of gore filled action scenes. I asked myself at the end, what was the point? It drags at times. But the animation and action were a lot of fun. A lot of animated nudity, but in a super casual way. B-
Rob PaulBecause im addicted, I bought the online hype and rented this. Totally worth it. A+. The Baby Assassins director takes one of his stars from that, Takaishi Akari, and makes a terrific action comedy. Akari is amazing in the role. Top notch action scenes. So good.
Rob PaulI don’t usually like action movies where it’s mostly gun fight scenes. Usually stick to Kung Fu and Wuxia. But this one is really good. Joins a long list of blind warrior movies and a standard story. But interesting characters and several epic fight scenes. Really good.
Rob PaulHaving enjoyed a lot of the books, I watch all those Michael Connelly shows. Bosch, Lincoln Lawyer, but this one has been my favorite by far. Always loved Maggie Q and she’s just fantastic here. Fun supporting cast. Really good twists and turns story. Can’t wait for more.
Rob PaulSee, this is why I can’t hang with you horror nuts. I’m genuinely traumatized right now. Think I’m finding something to get my zombie fix in and instead I see the most vile, sadistic, gore fest ever. Like, I’m questioning my entirety asking, dude, why didn’t you just turn it off? Should come with a twelve triggers locked and loaded warning.
Rob PaulWatched this because it has my team’s quarterback, Jared Goff, along with Kirk Cousins and Joe Burrow. Follows them through the ups and downs of last season. If you like Hard Knocks, it’s basically just like that. Something to give you your NFL fix in the offseason.
Rob PaulI only read the first line of the description. It said, directed by the guy (Timo Tjahjanto) who did 2018’s The Night Comes for Us, which at that time had been the most violent martial arts/action movie I’d ever seen. I hit play immediately. This was that times 100. The realistic, brutal, gory violence is shocking. The story’s not bad. The acting is pretty good. The body count hits The Raid/John Wick levels. Top notch budget and the FX is probably the best I’ve ever seen. It also does cross too many lines, the MC’s take forever to die despite being shot and stabbed eight times and I still can’t believe how real it looked.
Rob PaulThe guy who wrote and directed all the Resident Evil movies ended up marrying the star, Milla Jovovich. Every couple of years he makes a scifi action movie for her where she kicks ssa and looks super cool. How great is that? Like 2020’s Monster Hunter, which I loved. The critics hate him, especially here cause George R.R. Martin is the source material. It’s a total CGI fest and no acting awards are being handed out. But it’s fun and weird and dumb and very entertaining. Throw in Dave Bautista and I’m in every time.
