KyKyFirst I need to point out how BEAUTIFUL the cover is *chefs kiss* it immediately caught my eye! Now for the review: Overall this book was amazing! A sapphic retelling of the swan lake??Sounds like something right out of my dreams!I loved the magic system and thought it really unique. I loved all the twists and even though towards the end you pretty much had it all figured out I still really enjoyed everything leading up to that point. The two main reasons this book is not 5 stars is because I really wish the author would have leaned more into more mature darker gothic writing, and would have developed the love between the couple a bit more. I personally feel like the book would have been better as a whole if the characters were a bit more mature, along with the writing. At times the characters felt extremely childish and hard to take seriously. I would have also enjoyed to see the writing be a bit darker, (possible a bit more gore) and a bit more gothic as well. For the couple I felt their love was rushed a little at the end and would have liked to have more touching scenes with them at the beginning that just gave us *more*. I would still 100% recommend this book!

KyKy3.5 stars. SPOILERS! I didn’t really have high hopes for this book. I had read the summary on the back and just wasn’t interested in the plot line, however I tried to not let my bias ruin the my opinion on the book before I even read it. I had an extremely hard time keeping up with all the political components in this book. A lot of it just seemed like have backed nonsense. The other big issue for me was the fighting scenes, it was just really hard to follow along and again, it felt rushed. There was a lot of mistakes, one moment it said that they were in boats and then on land and then they ran out of arrows but he still had a dozen left??? There are a lot more in just not going to go back through this book. Anyway, I’m very excited for the third and fourth book!

KyKyWow, I’m a bit delirious because it’s currently 2:30 am, I’ve been reading for 5 hours straight and sobbing non-stop. This book was amazing. Everything Suzanna writes is incredible and heart wrenching. It was nice seeing all the characters and all the hidden snipets from the other books. It was also nice to see into Haymitch. I have always wondered about his game and his character, I just didn’t think it would leave me this broken hearted.

KyKyI really enjoyed going back into the world of Elfhame and was excited to read about Cardan and Jude again. It really was a nice, quick read that delved more into Cardan.

KyKyThis book absolutely just took my breath away. It was amazingly written and beautifully devastating. One of the best historical fictions books I have ever read and will probably ever read. It brought me to tears and I promise it will do the same to you. The ending was shocking. I thought for sure I knew what sister was in the present.

KyKy3.5 stars. I was really enjoying this books at first and thought for sure it was going to be 4 stars but obviously that rating dropped. The s*x scenes were extremely hard to read so I just skipped past and it was really hard to imagine the two main characters as 30 when they are acting like teenagers. But the book as a whole was pretty nice and I would recommend if you like hockey romances.

KyKy3.25 stars. I was REALLY enjoying this book, even though some of the characters were extremely annoying and a bit cringy. The reason the rating got knocked so low is because of the ending. I HATED it. The dialogue during the scene was terrible and it all kinda fell flat. The ending was not satisfactory and a lot of things were jut left out in the open with no ties and no answers. I saw that there is a second book but I honestly think I’m going to leave it as a stand alone.

KyKyI really enjoyed this book and while the characters could be a bit annoying at time and often made very frustrating choices I couldn’t help but love them. My heart broke at the end and I swear this series better give them a happy ending. Overall a really good fast paced book that I would 100% recommend! Sorry for such a short review but it’s currently 1am and I just finished the book so I still need to soak in my sorrows.

KyKyWhile there is a lot of reasons in this book for why it should be rated WAY lower than 4 stars I just can’t help but love this book. I have no clue why I enjoyed it so much but I just couldn’t put it down. There is a lot of critics, like the slave/oppressor relationship between the two but he never acts on anything and while it could have been done better (EX Captive Prince) it was not as bad as it could have been. Other than that the main thing is the s*x scenes being horrendously hard to read. I mostly just skipped through them because the second hand embarrassment made me want to slam the book. It was a little predicable, you can tell what all of the foreshadowing is hinting towards. SPOILER ALERT! I just am not that interested in her sister’s story and would rather the next book just continue with the main couple from this book but that is just my personal preference and doesn’t effect the rating of this book.
