"So I watched the show first and loved it. Now that I read the book, I love them both equally! They definitely added things in the show but this book was still good. I loved the descriptions of everything and everyone. The storyline was amazing and the character development was also great. Can't wait to read Siege and Storm!"
"Didn’t expect to like it that much. This might be one of my new favorite series now 😭 BUT we’ll see how the other ones go and I’ll prob be picking up the rest of the Grishaverse too !! Honestly didn’t like the cover or really anything about it at first (one of my fav booktuber said it was really bad and too tropey) but I loved it sm and the cover really grew on me, like I love it now‼️Plus I totally binged this in one day (prob not good because I ignored all my schoolwork and overdues… but that’s how much I liked this.)"
"SO GOOD!!!!! I LOVE THE PLOT. I love that Mal and Alina are together. But I hate their situation…it’s so complicated and sad. This book is some what like Cruel Prince combined with Sarah J. Mass and Blood and Ash. It’s an interesting read, and I’m always hooked (which is surprising because all of the other books I tried from this author were pretty hard to get into.)
DEFINITELY reading Six of Crows and Storms and Siege :)"
"I'm a sucker for a good "chosen one" trope- and this book does it right. It hooked me early on and held my attention until the explosive ending. It played out like a movie in my head- epic soundtrack included. Though I haven't watched the show, I see why this novel got Netflix's attention."
"3.75 stars. I know the book is YA but OMG the characters are annoying. I can barely stand the MC, she just irks me. So does everybody else. Besides from that there isn’t much to say. It’s an okay story that feels like almost every other YA book. SPOILERS: I actually liked some of the show elements more than I did from the book. (I hope that makes sense? I don’t know how to word it). Like how in the movie the antlers infuse with her collarbone and it isn’t just a necklace. I’m also aging them up because WTF? I searched it the MCs age in google and it said she was 17??? No thank you! "
"4.25 ⭐️ This was an excellent first book. I was drawn in, given a taste of this world, started to get a feeling of where it was going and then had the rug ripped out from underneath me. The FMC is struggling to find her place in the world after hers is turned upside down and the Darkling is intriguing, mysterious and brooding. With such typical trope characters I thought I knew what I was getting myself into but was pleasantly surprised. Moving on to the next book in the trilogy immediately."
