Have there ever been non-sterotypical and tasteful depictions of neuro divergence in anime? (i.e.) autism ADHD OCD dyscalclia, etc?

Now, most anime I've run across do not diagnose the characters, and my guess is getting a diagnosis in Japan might not be the norm but I have no idea if that's true, just speculation. My friend with autism related ALOT to how he saw people without fully seeing them especially when his anxiety and self hate peaked. She firmly believes he is a representation of a character with autism. I personally think it might be a different category but no idea what. HeatherI haven't gotten far in this so I may be off base, but Chihaya seems to be ADHD to me? The hyperfixation on the game and her outgoing personality that's sometimes unfocused and overbearing feels similar. Of course that's a very surface level look at it

Jessica HIt doesn't specifically say "Laos is on the spectrum," but I feel like it makes sense with his fixation on eating monsters. Maybe Senshi too. Just a feeling.

JojoYup! For me, there is definitely some coded autism going on. I have not finished it, but i love this show. So much it's so cute 😍
