THE LOVELY BONES is such a book -- a #1 bestseller celebrated at once for its artistry, for its luminous clarity of emotion, and for its astonishing power to lay claim to the hearts of millions of readers around the world. "My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973." So begins the story of Susie Salmon, who is adjusting to her new home in heaven, a place that is not at all what she expected, even as she is watching life on earth continue without her -- her friends trading rumors about her disappearance, her killer trying to cover his tracks, her grief-stricken family unraveling. Out of unspeakable tragedy and loss, THE LOVELY BONES succeeds, miraculously, in building a tale filled with hope, humor, suspense, even joy. The major motion picture version of THE LOVELY BONES, directed by Peter Jackson and starring Rachel Weisz, Susan Sarandon, Mark Wahlberg, Stanley Tucci, and Saoirse Ronan.

"Read this book years ago and loved it as much then as I do now. Although Stanley Tucci brought the character to life, the movie just couldn't do this book justice. "

"Such a good book, so sad though. The movie was good, too, but the book was definitely better"

"I enjoyed the beginning but the ending turned weird. I wish there was more character development on the killer. "

"This book is based on this girls death and what she goes through after death. It is a sad but almost magical book (and movie)."

"This is one of my all time favorite books and I love the movie too. The first time I read this was a long time ago as a kid and I just instantly loved it. It’s a very sad story but I love murder mystery type stuff so it’s right up my alley. It’s incredibly well written and the attention to detail is great. This book will definitely pull at your heart strings but it’s still a great read that I’d recommend to anyone. "

"I definitely loved this. The movie is amazing and so is the book, they're very different though. Different vibes different scenery. There's some disturbing parts, it describes the assault and death more. I recommend it to everyone who even slightly liked the movie! "
