"not my style"
"This is the second time I’ve read this — it has been since middle school!! I am so glad I gave it another go. I CANNOT wait to watch the movies as I keep reading. I love everything about this. It was very easy to visualize as I have already seen the first movie. I love Dumbledore’s character the most. I have so much I could say but I am going to leave this at that!
I can’t wait to read this to my (future) children one day. "
"“Harry — yer a wizard!” - Hagrid

This book follows Harry Potter, a seemingly ordinary boy, who finds out on his eleventh birthday that he is a wizard. He is invited to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he learns magic, makes friends, and attempts to uncover the secrets of his past. As Harry navigates this strange new world, he realizes he is famous for surviving an attack by a dark wizard (“he-who-must-not-be-named”) when he was just a baby. While adjusting to this new life at Hogwarts he becomes involved in a mystery surrounding a powerful, magical object within the school. Alongside his friends, Harry must use his new skills to protect Hogwarts, and this new magical world, from danger.

One of the best fantasy adventures ever written! I have always been such a big fan of the movies but I never got around to reading them (young me was more into dystopian themes). I fell in love with the characters and the story all over again this time through written words. I love that the characters each have their own backstory and are developed so well. I can’t wait to dive into the next 6 books! I am going to have to do a move marathon when I finish the books to note the comparisons!

Food: chocolate frogs and every flavor beans
Drink: pumpkin juice and butterbeer"
"I finally read the first book in the Harry Potter series and, naturally, I'm about to do a movie:book comparison because I have questions! So! Where's peeves man? Peeves should've been put into the movie hands down. Also! Where's hermione's blue flame? That would've been a beautiful visual addition to the movie its almost like perhaps they didn't want Hermione over shadowing Harry? One more thing I would've loved to see in the movie would've been Hermione with Snape's potion riddle! #hermioneftw"
"4.5*
I’m honest to god so surprised that i still loved this having read it 5 years after my first time. I was hands down obsessed with this series when i was in 5th grade (i mean who wasn’t), and i didn’t think it was possible to have enjoyed it as much as i did then, but i absolutely do. The grammar usage and writing style definitely stick out to me more than when i was 11, but it literally didn’t matter to me at all when i was reading because i was so happy. I was planning on reading the first three books over the span of three months and then stopping because i only ADORE the first three, but this is making me want to reread the whole series now...."
