Sage DeForest that's like saying having a gay lisp makes you a homosexual. it's a false equivalency.

Sean Steo Luca is too young to really have a sexual preference, I would say. The film is definitely a story about feeling different, and learning to fit in and accept yourself, which are often labelled as "gay themes". This is a film about actual children, though, and it probably isn't fair for us to project our feelings about them onto children like that. Even if they're not real, it's probably not a great path to go down.

Ang It Mmm I knew I was gay when I was 8. Luca seems to be on the verge of adolescence - which is when a lot of folks start to realize the "differences" in their identities. Especially since kids are inundated with heteronormative messaging practically since birth. Your comment seems like an unnecessary derailment of the broader discussion of queer representation in kids' stories

Ang It I definitely read him as being an anti- cis/het kid (in a nonbinary kind of way). No doubt the character was made to appeal to the queer community of all ages. But let's not give Disney any credit for that. The creaotors have bent over backwards to undermine all literal interpretations of queer identity, and it's pretty frustrating that the best that the most powerful media conglomerate in the world can do in 2021 is a maybe possible "allegory" for queer representation

K4y It so is, the whole movie is heavily queer-coated. they act like young queer kids I acted like that the whole movie is blatantly a queer. The sea monster thing is a metaphor. Well is claimed it's not queer I think that's a appearance thing from Disney they want money they can't risk losing fans
