I’m trying to get more into fantasy. I’m a huge Tolkien fan, I read Harry Potter when I was younger. I am currently finishing up the Dark Tower series. I’m debating which series to start next - dive into the cosmere with mistborn or a song of ice and fire. Thoughts?

Julz Mistborn is one of my all time favorite book series ever! You won’t regret it if you read it. @abigail_grubbs should tell you more about the series because she loves it so much!

Julz Also just so you know the game of thrones series is very spicy and has some incest as well. If you are ok with these things then I would say go for it.

AutisticJester Definitely, start the cosmere. I've read Song of Ice and Fire, it wasn't as good as I thought it'd be.

Marissa W Personally I enjoyed both of these series a lot! However if you are hoping to have more of an easier read start with Mistborn. Not as complex as GoT. Another author I would recommend is John Gwynne, faithful and fallen series is great!

Brian strong I'm in the minority but I much prefer Asoiaf I dont really connect with Sanderson. I find Martin's characters more gritty and flawed and the dialog is better. Two cavaets, asoiaf may never be completed and there is more on page sex and graphic violence

Hoid :) Mistborn is spectacular! I am also a big Tolkien fan, my whole family LOVES Tolkien, and everyone in my family who has done Mistborn has loved it. It’s written simply so it’s easy to understand and follow. The plot, characters, and world building is all phenomenal! It’s a good book to read to get more into fantasy.

Me Mistborn for sure. George Martin may never finish the song of ice and fire series at this point.
