Topic: The Goonies
https://screenrant.com/the-goonies-2-no-richard-donner-op-ed/ I'll keep it simple. I am immediately in complete opposition to this. This is not a thing that should ever happen.

Brandon Reed I'm not a huge fan of The Goonies. However, the film tells a complete story. This sequel is totally unnecessary and a blatant cash grab.

Road Master I agree. But I LOVE The Goonies. Like this article said, this is one of those movies that existed in the 80s and absolutely is a product of its time. It cannot be remade. The magic cannot be recaptured. I truly find this very idea offensive. Especially with my negative outlook on modern Hollywood. The sheer hubris of these people to think that this is something that they are even capable of, to believe that they possess the necessary qualities to even touch something like this, angers me. None of the people working in Hollywood today even belong in the same room as this masterpiece.

Julz Is this true? When I searched it in google everywhere said this wasn’t true and that the actors of the first goonies said there won’t be one. This that you sent was the only thing saying that there could be a goonies two.

Road Master I've seen that too. I'm hoping it's not.

Road Master I'm hoping that's the case. But the articles talking about the cast denying it (that I've seen) were from late 2024. But this article is from last month.

Audrey Although I haven't seen Blues Brothers 2000 I imagine it would be a similarly unnecessary sequel.

Errika Mason Oh, man! Audrey! Yes! Please miss that one. I made the mistake of seeing Blues Brothers 2000, at least half of it, and I cannot get my time back. 😭😂

Craig S. Bring it on, especially if it's a sequel with the original cast and maybe they have kids of their own. As with all remakes or sequels imo, if it sucks it sucks and if it's good we got another movie to enjoy like Top Gum Maverick or Road House. Either way, the original isn't getting deleted from existence and the new movie will spark interest in the original for a generation that I guarantee aren't scrambling to watch it. Hell, I'm never watching the original again because I've seen it enough as a kid.
