Topic: How to Train Your Dragon
After its premiere two months ago, the How to Train Your Dragon remake finally hits theaters this coming Friday, June 13th. I've been vocally critical of live-action remakes, especially when the animated original released only a short time ago, but critics have praised this one, stating that it adds a lot to the world while remaining faithful to the source material. Even the large gap between the premiere and the general release is a good sign. Will you see this in theaters? Streaming? Or pass?

Brandon Reed How many movies do you think you see in theaters a year?

Nona Lisa I love going to the movies and out to eat (and other places) by myself! I've never felt awkward by it. It's super relaxing.

Road Master I've been on the fence about this one. The animated trilogy is legitimately some of my favorite movies of all time. The trailers for this made it look like a shot-for-shot remake. Which I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, it's a good sign that they're honoring the animated movies (not the source material, from what I've heard). But it also bugs the question "Why?". If you're not going to do anything different, why not just leave it as the animated movies? But you say reviews are saying it DOES bring something new. WHILE honoring the animated movie. I was originally going to wait for streaming or blu-ray. But if the reviews are accurate, I might see it in theaters. This might be one I watch alone.

Brandon Reed Yeah, watching movies with the wrong people (or even with certain people at the wrong time) can absolutely ruin the experience.

Craig S. I vaguely remember watching the first cartoon but I definitely didn't see the others. I'll probably check it out this version on Peacock when it arrives there.

Brandon Reed The first is the best, IMHO. How many times in a year do you go to the theater? What informs your decision?

Craig S. The last movie in theaters I saw was Dune part 2, and this year I'm considering going to see Superman. I'm Not a theater lover anymore, there's just too much great stuff to watch at home (have ya seen Mobland and season 2 of Andor? Holy cow....better than most movies I've seen in the past few years), and any chance that my friends have free time to hang out at all the last thing we wanna do is sit quietly in a theater for 3 hours. I've also had enough bad experiences in theaters that the thought of going alone and spending the time/money on a good chance someone will annoy me is just not necessary to me anymore.

Jessica H Lol, I literally got mine January 1, 2020. ....In the first three months I nearly got the whole money's worth, but then Covid. Regal Theaters was actually really great about it and extended the period it covered since no one could go to the movies then.
