From the author of Still Beating comes another standalone forbidden romance turning something broken into something beautiful. Want to know what happens to a man who barely claws his way out of a tragedy, only to fall right into the arms of the one girl in the world he isn't allowed to love? Another tragedy, that's what. When Brant was six years old, his father made a choice that altered the course of his entire life. Because of what he did, the only girl Brant ever loved became the only girl he couldn't have. Though in a lot of ways, he did have her... He had her first steps, her first words, her first smile. He had her milestones, her heartbreaks, her dreams. He had her heart so woven in with his, he didn't know where she ended, and he began. Only, as the years pressed on, lines became blurred--and the blurrier the line, the easier it is to cross. They say tragedy comes in threes. For Brant, that was true. The first one changed him, the second one broke him, and the third one healed him. But at the center of all that tragedy, there is a love story. And at the center of that love story, there is June.

"I am shocked that this book gets such good reviews. The first half of the book about their childhood was cringeworthy and not age appropriate behavior for the kids. Where were the parents? For the entire story I felt like I was just reading about the emotions they experienced, vs actually feeling the emotions with the characters. Honestly, I was bored reading it and struggled finishing. "
"I love Jennifer Hartmann, this book just wasn’t it for me though. It wasn’t horrible but I felt like it dragged a bit. I don’t think there is any trigger warnings listed but it does have a murder/suicide happen and mentioned a few times through the book. However, follows a boy, his best friend, and his best friends sister through life. Love story with some heart break in a few ways.. def grab your tissues.
It’s possible I hold Lotus and still beating on a high pedestal so this was just not up there but it was still worth the read"
"The first half of the book was about their childhood and honestly dragged for me a bit. I almost DNF’d because I wasn’t wanting to read about children for most the book. BUT, looking back I know it helped to form a better character driven book and it really showed the foundation to their love story. I cried multiple times and this was so beautifully written!"
"<strong>have Kleenex handy</strong><br/><br/>An emotional tale from beginning to end. It’s divided into three tragedies but really the punches just keep coming. I enjoyed this tale despite the constant state of sadness because there are moments of happy sprinkled through and by the end you realize that sometimes the sad is necessary to enjoy the happy or simple moments. And love is worth waiting for if it’s the right person wrong time."
