"What just happened? Lol. This book was more graphic than I was expecting. Glad to push through to the end. A classic that I will be reading again. "

"It was very well written, and a very good story. Was it the scariest book I’ve ever read? No. But I enjoyed reading it. "

"VERY graphic. Could be upsetting to readers with sensitivity. I loved it because I love horror and gore. There is a movie but it is PG-13 which doesn’t match what I would expect the book to be rated at. "

"I had high hopes for this book, and we did not click. Hell House has all the aspects of a book I would love, but it's a disjointed story that tries way too hard to be scary the entire way through. It seems like the reader is expected to care about why/how the house is haunted, but almost little to no background is given. I kept hoping that something would change if I kept going since this seems to be a beloved book. It's kind of like watch Scary Movie 2 without any of the fun parts.

I'm going to rename this book Nonsense and Ghost Rape. There's also some weird unnecessary homophobia? I know this book was written in the 70s, but it was a weird transition back and forth between "boo ghosts!" and "lesbian lol". Okay, I'm done."

"Decent book! Narrated well. Definitely some creepy parts but overall a little slow. Still enjoyed. Even though it was written in the 70s, it ages well. "

"God awful. Complete waste of my time and can’t note a single thing I enjoyed. One of the worst books I’ve read. Don’t know what I was expecting but it wasn’t this goofy, senseless, bizarre, ghost ***** that it was. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME."
