"This is exactly what you would expect from a young adult from the 2010s. I am a simp for that era and genre. It was a little insta-lovey for my tastes but it has a good plot, healthy friendships, and a premise that makes you want to go onto the next one. 3.5 stars for me strictly because of the insta-love. It is a trope that i have a hard time getting around. "

"I was excited to read this book because the plot and idea of it is really good, especially because it is one of the few books who have a vague and short back flap blurb that is remotely intriguing. Once I started reading, however, I had to fight every urge to either throw the book or myself out of a moving vehicle because of purely how unreadable it is. The writing is so elementary with undescriptive and bland world building for the alien planets and somehow Earth, too. The dialogue is ripped straight from Disney’s “over-exposition” writing room. The main character never had any interesting thoughts despite developing new superpowers. Every sentence read like a second grader not understanding what “summarizing” meant and went over each part of a story. This, of course, includes the narrator also having the vocabulary, grammar, and intelligence of a second grader as well. And how could I forget the author’s bizarre and largely complimentary self insert in the middle of the book. Run me over with aforementioned car because what even is literature anymore after reading this book? To give credit, like I said, the idea of this book is really good and interesting and had so much potential. Too bad Pittacus buried it and shat on its grave. "

"Bleh. This book was boringgggg. Lisa McHan, stop reading here. There were several reasons I didn't like this book:<br/><br/>1. Aliens and science fiction and all that stuff is not my thing. I thought his might be a little different since they were supposed to be like super heroes. I was wrong. The legacies and that stuff wasn't so bad --it was the morgadoria-blah-blahs that made it not so good. <br/><br/>2. The storyline may have been okay, if written by a different author. The author's style though had nothing interesting about it. It is so plain, pretty much 'I walked with the dog. I opened the door. The dog barked. See Jane. See Jane run.' Seriously not very interesting to read.<br/><br/>3. The sappy love story. Pretty much "Call Me Maybe" in a book. Enough said.<br/><br/>4. The 50+ pages of 'epic battle' at the end. I skipped at least ten and skimmed the rest. It seemed to go on Forever! 'Oh I got hurt! Oh someone else got hurt! Let me use my pow- oh the dog got hurt! I just got so bored and was ready to be done with he book.<br/><br/>Well that's one reason for each star I subtracted so I guess I will move on to the things I liked although I could probably come up with more reasons I didn't.<br/><br/>1. Henri and Benie Cosar (that's a horrible name for a dog) , I liked. They weren't so bad. They weren't quite as boring as some of the other characters. <br/><br/>2. Superpowers.The legacies were kinda cool. And the whole 'scar each time another of them dies thing ' kind of intrigued me. So pretty much their powers, rules, and the stuff the book jacket said is what I liked.<br/><br/>So needless to repeat, I didn't like this book very much --I wanted to but it was not for me."
