Warbreaker - Likewise Book Reviews
"Obviously not my favorite Brandon Sanderson book, but it's still very enjoyable. This book may have the background context of a budding war and political tensions, but it's really about people and self-discovery. It can feel like a slow start and maybe even a slow book if you aren't interested in internal monologs or characters learning when to trust and when to be worry. Honestly, I really liked it. There are moments that made me gasp, cry, and growl. If you have enjoyed Sandersons work you should absolutely pick this one up."
"This world was so interesting to me. I didn’t really have any idea what this book was about when I continued my Cosmere adventure but I really like the world in this book. It used color and symbolism for the soul and was really meaningful way to explain the feeling of giving your soul into your faith. I’m excited to see how this connects as I venture down some more Brando sando series"
"☆☆☆ 3/5. Good world building and coherent magic system. An engaging story once all of the characters were introduced and the plot revealed the primary conflict. It was a slow start for me. There are a few action scenes but most of the book is dialog or internal monologs lead by male characters (info dumps). We spend the entire book building up to a war only to wrap it up the last 5 pages.👎The couple female leads' personalities were disappointingly dull and dry. "
"I never thought I would get through this. It felt like 92% foam filler, with so much repetition about eating at large and grapes in particular I thought I would gag. <br/><br/>With that off my chest, I can say that this is a great example of a decent plot and lovely twists draped in so many layers of trite characterization and contrived scenes I wanted to stab myself with a talking sword. <br/><br/>However, as a writer I felt this a good case study: A favorite author, a smattering of genius, and a really bad book. What went wrong? Moreover, how did those shiny bits manage to stand out in the rubble?<br/><br/>Still, at least it wasn't James Dashner."

"This is my first BrandoSando novel. As a matter of fact this is my first epic too"

"Just read gods of blood and powder trilogy by Brian McClellan. Really enjoyed the first and third book. "
"Out of all Sanderson’s books this tends to be lower on everyone’s list. This is the second book that i read by him. I enjoyed Skyward more but Warbreaker was still really good. The characters are complex, the magic system takes time to understand but is still good and so is the world building.<br/><br/>In the beginning there were stuff that i wasn’t enjoying. The magic system was confusing. I didn’t like Vivenne at first because of her stubborness and she was too trusting. Lightsong at first was very meh. Throughout the story Vivenne and Lightsong do both change and become good characters. You get to learn about the world and magic with the princesses, Seri and Vivenne. Except for the beginning the information never felt overwelling. <br/><br/>"

"As an artist, the magic mechanics were so cool! i love how everything revolved around colorful and colorless objects."
"This book had more reveals in it than I anticipated. A very unique magic system with roots that seem to come from a strong religious background. This story is also darker than I expected, putting the characters in surprisingly terrifying situations.
A very emotional read that could come off as flippant in the first read through. "

"It is a very unique story line and form of magic and just different from other fantasy books. I love just about everything from Brandon Sanderson. His writing pulls you in. I could hardly put it down. "

"I absolutely love Brandon Sanderson. I find it so amazing how he can create a completely new world that has never been seen before, but still make it believable.<br/><br/>"

"I can't believe I completely forgot how this book ends. Until I re-read it, I thought it ended way differently."
"This was AMAZING! I started this book after reading Words Of Radiance (Stormlight Archives book 2), because I read it makes reading Oathbringer (book 3) more enjoyable. I was not prepared to love it as much as I did. I love the Cosmere universe and have been loving almost every book I read in it (except The Alloy of Law, we're not going to talk about that one now), but with this one, I feel like I've enjoyed it so much more than almost everything else (Hero of Ages remains untouched, though). I have loved basically every single character in this book, which is not easy to do, but Sanderson did it somehow. I literally can't think of a character I didn't like, even the villains and the side characters were so well written that I just fell in love. The plot twists and turns kept me captured all the way through. I also have to say, I'm someone who reads series no problem, but this book feels like it can stand alone. The ending is satisfying enough to make it a standalone, but I can't wait for book 2 of this series. Nothing but praise from me."
