Pearl Harrell⭐️⭐️⭐️ I thought this book was okay. It was very thought provoking, but I thought there was so much potential that wasn't used. Very slow in some parts and then really fast. It was just not a book I would read again and again. For anyone younger or dislikes "spicy scenes" there are quite a few sex scenes and talking about sex, adultery, rape, etc.
Pearl HarrellI loved this book. There were so many twists and turns in the story, I had no clue where it was going. The author is extremely descriptive, which I loved. I shed a few tears reading this book. There is no much dispare, loss, sadness, and beautiful hope. I have never read a book that tackled such difficult topics and it truly broke me. I am extremely empathetic and reading these pages just broke my soul more and more. She established the characters so well; I found myself angry and frustrated with their decisions, as if they were a close friend. I had seen that some people didn't like the ending, but I absolutely loved the closure of it. I will warn readers that there are a few scenes that are "spicy", so read at your own will. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pearl HarrellThis was an incredibly powerful read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The highs in her life were extremely high and the lows were extremely low. There were a few slow spots for me and it took me almost a week to read, however, the impact it made trumped the slower parts. I would also like to remind anyone who reads this that it is a memoir. This book occurred in the late 1800s and early 1900s, and was written in 1933. A lot of the language is not "politically correct" nowadays. If you are sensitive to that type of language, I would not recommend. Also, there were many times when I didn't understand the phrases or certain words and had to do some research. I highly recommend this book nonetheless. Extremely inspiring and heart-wrenching.
Pearl HarrellInspiring story. It was a tad slow for me, but I just dont enjoy a memoir (just personal preference). Still a very good book and I enjoyed doing my own research of her story afterwards. (No sex is mentioned)
Pearl HarrellInspiring, realistic book of the struggles of Aushwitz. Very quick read written in almost a poem format. I read it in half a day, and I recommend if you enjoy historical fiction-type books. (Sex is subtlety implied; nothing graphic)
