Sophie KirkLoved this book series, got through about halfway into the 4th book before stopping. I stopped because I had read it relatively quickly and it felt somewhat drawn out. However, don’t let this stop you from reading this romantic and high stakes series. The mc grows and develops into a strong and fierce woman to protect those she loves. You will feel a strong bond to all of the characters as they fight for their kingdom. Well-written and strong plot, I highly recommend this book to fantasy and steamy-romance lovers as this finds a balance between the two extremes!

Sophie KirkVery beautifully written. Felt like half of the book was written like a poem or a riddle from a troll under a bridge, but was very artfully sewn in with fantastical world building. Thought it seems like that style would be confusing to navigate, it was easily comprehended and just added to the beauty the author creates. With some parallels with ‘Throne of Glass’ and an edge of scary-bedtime-story, this book was just gorgeous. The romance is slow and makes your toes curl as the characters grow closer and closer and she continues to hide her secret. The world the author builds is a dark and beautifully deceiving world that makes you want to jump into it to learn more. Truly a unique book, and the ending was perfect for the first book though, personally, I’m not likely to read the second book, only because I liked the way the first one ended so much and didn’t feel like it was necessary for another to continue the story. Though this book was 400 pages, I finished it within a day because I just could not put it down. 10/10 would recommend to any fantasy lover.

Sophie KirkThe writing was very good, the **** was also good. It was very consistent and has very beautiful gore and imagery. Comparable to Haunting Adeline and I’d recommend this to anyone who is looking for something similar, however, it’s a little less violent with the sex, it’s still gives enough to satisfy I think. It made me feel the anger and sadism of the main character while also making me what to cry for her. It’s hard to find a book that is equal **** and plot but this definitely met my standards for a good dark romance.
