David RachauA wizard private eye in Chicago. Starts out relatively small, but by the later books everything has gone massive. Fighting gods and titans, and somehow surviving...mostly.

Shannon PerkinsPossibly off topic since this one's definitely not a light-hearted read, but one of the best books I've read in a long time. Sort of urban fantasy, dark academia, very unique. I would highly recommend looking at content warnings for this one, as there's some difficult concepts it deals with.
